No — Malaysia holds a mutual visa-exemption arrangement with China: up to 30 days per entry, with cumulative stays capped at 90 days in any 180-day period.

Do US citizens need a visa for China?

Yes — US citizens need a visa before travelling to China for tourism or business — typically the L tourist visa, commonly issued as a 10-year multiple-entry visa. Exception: transiting to a third country or region through a designated port qualifies for the 240-hour (10-day) visa-free transit.
